In the wild, the Guinea Turaco is found in Senegal and from Gambia to Liberia (Africa). Its preferred habitat is well-developed forest areas with rivers or near watercourses.
The Guinea Turaco occurs in Senegal and from Gambia to Liberia. The Touraco persa persa lives in the wild from the Ivory Coast to Cameroon. The Touraco persa zenkeri lives in southern Cameroon to northern Angola. This bird species also occurs in northwestern Congo-Kinshasa.
The size of the Guinea Turaco is 40 to 43 centimeters. It has a weight between 225 and 290 grams. Its erect crest makes it a striking appearance. It has green feathers on its chest, neck, head and mantle. The green color gradually changes to black on the back, rump and tail from top to bottom , with a metallic, violet sheen.
